A content management system (CMS) is a system that lets you create, store, organize, publish, and manage your website’s content.

With so many options on the market, choosing the right content management system (CMS) for your business can be a difficult decision.

Why Use a CMS?

A well-designed, easy to use, and easy to update CMS gives you access to easy publishing on the world’s leading web browsers and mobile devices, which are slowly becoming the preferred way to surf the Internet.

With all the content you create, all the advertisements you want to display, all the scripts you wish to use, a common platform you can select lets you publish all these without the need to navigate between browser windows and file manager window, you can find your CMS’s here, but if you need a little more guidance, the following infographic from Content Management Institute’s (CMI) Content Marketing Institute (CMI) is a great introduction to web content management systems.

The content management system has full control over the way content is stored on the server.

CMS allows you to store, organize, publish and distribute all your content. CMS has open-source and commercial alternatives. Compatible with all Operating Systems The CMS system should be compatible with all the operating systems, even Ubuntu, of course.

CMS’s are Affordable

From 2015, according to CMSGI, 63% of small businesses use a CMS, and an even larger % (73%) plan to start using one within the next year.

CMSGI surveyed 101 small business owners and found the following; 68% have used a CMS at least once 62% use a different CMS than the one they started with. The top benefits of using a CMS have increased flexibility and quicker time-to-market. Source: CMSGI.

CMS’s are Easier to Maintain

It’s easier to keep the code up-to-date if your CMS is hosted and not installed locally.

Being able to build and test the site is much faster, and for those who use WordPress as an example, if their site has a specific set of features then that feature isn’t available as it’s stored in a database and not the website.

The development and support of the website is the main reason WordPress is used so widely but with a local CMS, hosting is quicker to update and control. Easier to Manage The author can easily make changes to the website, such as changing font colour, a footer link, and much more.

The site can be easily changed by the owners and less technical users who can edit the design easily.

Conclusion

CMS is an indispensable tool to have, as they provide some very useful features that benefit your business.

Using a content management system will provide you with tools like schedule email campaigns, create/edit content, provide you with the opportunity to display messages and ads as well as control the rate of your website’s web traffic.

In addition, it provides you with the opportunity to develop your own way to use your content management system. There are some very great tools to help you create a solid platform that allows you to store your website’s data and gives you the possibility to add new features.
